Bearcats Roll Over F.I.T. in Swimming Meet

FULL MEET RESULTS

The men’s and women’s swimming teams each recorded victories against the Fashion Institute Technology in a non-conference meet on Thursday night in the ARC Aquatic Center.

The men won with the score of 81-59, and the women, 93-51, to each post their first victories of the regular season schedule. F.I.T. is a school affiliated with the NAIA.

Julia Sung led the women with a victory in the 200 meter freestyle, breaking the school record held by 2008 CUNYAC Conference Performer of the Year Annelie Gregor.

Sung competed in two victorious relays and broke the school record in the 200 meter freestyle relay along with Denisse Duran Llano, Alyssa Lubrino and Sally Lim. She teamed up with Priscilla Arana, Apolonia Cieslak and Lim in the 200 meter medley relay.

Lim also won the 200 meter individual medley, while Cieslak won both the 50 meter free and 100 meter butterfly. Lubrino was victorious in the 100 meter free and Arana won the 100 meter breastroke.

On the men’s side, standout George Martinez broke the freshmen record in the 800 meter freestyle and broke the school & freshmen record in the 400 meter freestyle. Martinez also finished second in the 100 meter butterfly.

Gabriel Yanez broke the school record in the 800 meter freestyle and was first in the 100 meter butterfly. He combined with Daniel Donis, Robert Stumpf and Patrick Campbell for the victory in the 200 meter freestyle relay.

James Chang won the 50 meter freestyle and 100 backstroke individual events, and combined with Donis, Stumpf and Jeffrey Wong to win the 200 meter medley relay.

The men's and women's swimming teams will next begin their CUNYAC schedule on Wednesday, November 9, with a 6:00 pm meet at the College of Staten Island.
