The men’s and women’s swimming teams each posted split victories at a tri-meet against Division II level opposition on Thursday, December 8, at Queens College in Flushing, New York.

Jeffrey Wong, Daniel Donis, Michael Polgur, and Tarik Bouzourene led the men with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay against Queens.

Wong also recorded a victory in the 100 yard breaststroke (breaking school record) and third place in the 400 yard individual medley against Queens.

Ryan Flynn won the 50 yard freestyle against both Queens and Adelphi, while finishing second to teammate Kenny Kim in the 100 yard freestyle. Kim also finished first in the 200 yard freestyle against Queens.

The 400 yard freestyle relay of Kim, Flynn, James Chang and Gabriel Yanez posted a victory against both Queens and Adelphi.

George Martinez broke his own school freshman record in the 500 yard freestyle by defeating Adelphi and finishing second against Queens.

Per the women, the 200 yard medley relay of Julia Sung, Priscilla Arana, Sally Lim and Alyssa Lubrino were victorious against Queens and Adelphi.

Sung also posted victories against both opponents in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke.

Lubrino, recently named the CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete for the Month of November, came up with a victory in the 50 yard freestyle against both opponents, and in the 100 yard freestyle, she was first against Queens and a close second against Adelphi.

Arana finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke and second to both teams in the 1,000 yard freestyle.

The men’s and women’s swimming teams will now go on break for the final exams/holidays. The women will resume action first after the break with a CUNYAC road meet at rival Hunter College on Friday, January 6, 2012, at 6:00 pm.
