BOX SCORE vs St. Joseph's (LI)

The baseball team lost two single non-conference games on Sunday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida.

With the results, the Bearcats drop to 3-6 overall on the regular season schedule.

They opened up against Kenyon College of Ohio from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and suffered a 13-8 loss.

The Bearcats scored first in their first at-bat for a 1-0 lead after
Richard Melendez stole home plate. Kenyon would score the next 10 runs, including seven runs on seven total hits in the top of the seventh inning, to lead 10-1.

The Baruch offense awoke in the final three at-bats to score seven runs, but it was not enough to avoid the 13-8 loss.

Anthony Melendez, Alvin Mata, Thomas Daly and Nicholas Carmine had two hits each against Kenyon.

St. Joseph’s College of Long Island from the Skyline Conference won the second game, 12-9, with 18 total hits against the Bearcats. They jumped out to an 8-2 lead through the fifth inning of play.

The Baruch offense erupted late again with seven total runs in their final three at-bats, but it fell short to suffer the 12-9 loss.

Jonathan Ovalles led the team at the plate by batting a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored, while Daly finished the game batting 3-for-5. Anthony Melendez (2-for-4, two RBI), Alvin Mata (2-for-5, three RBI), and Marcos Mejia (2-for-6) all contributed to the team’s nine total runs.

The baseball team will finish their schedule in Fort Myers on Monday morning with a 9:00 am single non-conference game against Lakeland College of Wisconsin.
