Baruch Defeats Brooklyn, Three Swimmers Win Weekly CUNYAC Honors, Scheduling Changes

SCHEDULING CHANGES: (1) Please note the Thursday, November 15 meet at Queens College, which also featured Adelphi University, has been postponed. A new date will be announced shortly. (2) The home meet against Division I Manhattan College on Friday, November 16, has been moved to Manhattan's pool in Riverdale, New York. Baruch's ARC Aquatic Center needs more time to undergo maintenance to host a meet, due to lingering issues associated with Hurricane Sandy.

The men’s and women’s swimming teams each began their CUNYAC schedule on a winning note by defeating the Bridges of Brooklyn College on Monday night.

The visiting Bearcats won with scores of 126-86 on the men’s side and 131-59 on the women’s side.

MEET RESULTS (Events in Yards)

MEN

*
Gabriel Yanez was a member of the winning 200 medley relay. He also won the 100 butterfly and was second in the 500 free.

*
Patrick Campbell was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay. He won the arduous 1,000 free and was third in the 100 breaststroke.

*
Jacky Lau, who was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week for the first time, won the 100 free, 200 free and was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay, which qualified for ECAC Opens in March at Harvard University.

*
Ryan Flynn, who was named the CUNYAC Swimmer of the Week, won the 50 free and was second in the 100 free. He was also a member of the ECAC Open qualifying 200 freestyle relay.

*
Kenny Kim won in the 500 free and finished second behind Flynn in the 50 free.  He was also a member of the ECAC Open qualifying 200 freestyle relay.

*
Chudchane Sangtippawan was second in the 200 free and was third in the 200 I.M. He rounded off his day by being a successful member of the ECAC Open qualifying 200 freestyle relay.

Daniel Donis was a member of the winning 200 medley relay. He finished second in the 200 I.M. and 100 butterfly.

Robert Stumpf was a member of the winning 200 medley relay and was second in the 100 breastroke.

WOMEN

*
Sally Lim was a member of the winning 200 medley relay. Also won the 100 fly and winner of the 500 free to go a perfect 3-for-3 in wins.

Rose Lee was also 3-for-3 in wins as a member of the 200 medley relay, 50 free and 100 backstroke events.

Julia Sung (100 free, 200 free relay) and Denisse Duran Llano (200 free, 200 free relay) each won two events.

Jennifer Chern won the one meter (170.55) and three meter (164.40) diving events. She broke the school record for the six dives in the three meter.

Julianna Fricchione won the arduous 1,000 free and was third in the 200 free.

*
Alyssa Lubrino
was second in the 200 free and was a member of the winning 200 free relay.

*
Adrianna Martinez, who was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, finished second in two events (200 I.M., 100 breaststroke).
