2012 Metro Finals

Swimming Teams Finish Strong at Metro Finals, Bearcats Travel to Navy for ECAC Open Finals

The men's and women's swimming teams, fresh off their appearance of winning their third consecutive CUNYAC Championship, were both in action during the past weekend of February 17-19 competing at the regional Metro Finals at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

The women recorded a 13th place finish, while the men placed 14th against a field of Division I, II and III competition. Prior to the meet, the seniors on the team joined other seniors from other competing teams in the senior walk to honor them for their careers in a classy yearly move by the Metro Conference.

The Bearcats will conclude their season this upcoming weekend of February 24-26 at the ECAC Swimming and Diving Open Championships hosted by the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS


Alyssa Lubrino was 22nd in the 50 Freestyle.

Priscilla Arana was 22nd in the 100 Breaststroke & 13th overall in 200 Breaststroke & 14th overall in 400 Individual Medley.

Julia Sung 19th in the 200 Individual Medley.

Jennifer Chern finished 19th in One Meter Diving.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team (Lubrino,
Apolonia Cieslak, Denisse Duran Llano, Sung) finished in 8th place.

The 400 Freestyle Relay team (Lubrino, Cieslak, Duran-Llano, Sung) finished in 10th place.

The 800 Freestyle Relay team (
Sally Lim, Arana, Lubrino, Duran-Llano) finished in 12th place.

The 200 Medley Relay team (Sung, Arana, Lim, Lubrino) finished in 10th place.

The 400 Medley Relay team (Sung, Arana, Lim, Lubrino) finished in 13th place.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS


Gabriel Yanez was 22nd in the 200 Backstroke & 24th overall in 200 Butterfly.

Kenny Kim was 24th in the 100 Freestyle & 20th overall in the 100 Butterfly.

Chudchane Sangtippawan placed 6th in the 100 Breaststroke (new freshman & school record) and 19th overall in the 200 Breaststroke.

George Martinez was 21st in the 200 Butterfly & 16th overall in the 400 individual medley.
 
The 200 Freestyle Relay team (Sangtippawan, Kim,
James Chang & Ryan Flynn) placed 10th.

The 400 Freestyle Relay team (Flynn, Sangtippawan, Chang, Kim) placed 7th.

The 800 Freestyle Relay team (Flynn, Martinez, Campbell, Yanez) placed 11th.

The 200 Medley Relay team (Chang, Sangtippawan, Kim, Flynn) placed 11th.
