BOX SCORE

The baseball team lost a 9-2 non-conference road contest to St. Joseph’s College of Long Island on Thursday afternoon in Patchogue, New York.

St. Joseph’s from the Skyline Conference scored nine runs on 14 hits to raise their season record to 10-9, while the Bearcats drop to 9-10 with two runs on five hits with one error.

The Bearcats struggled throughout the game and were trailing 4-0 as they began to bat in the top of the eighth inning, but scored twice to cut the score to 4-2.

The two runs came with two outs as
Ricky Gerbino walked, Steve Hession was hit by a pitch, and pinch hitter Justin Torres singled to load the bases. Thomas Daly, the 2011 CUNYAC Player of the Year, then smacked a two RBI single to get the Bearcats as close as 4-2 on the scoreboard.

Unfortunately, St. Joseph’s put the game away for good in their next at-bat by scoring five runs on five hits with one Baruch error to increase their lead to 9-2. That was enough to record the victory on a windy afternoon on Long Island.
