Bearcats Score 35 Runs on 35 Hits to Sweep CCNY (15-5, 20-13), Daly Bats 8-10, 5 RBI

The baseball team stayed undefeated in the CUNYAC following a doubleheader sweep of CCNY in a conference doubleheader played on Thursday afternoon at Salesian High School in New Rochelle, New York.

The visiting Bearcats swept with scores of 15-5 and 20-13 to raise their record to 15-12 overall and 6-0 in CUNYAC, while CCNY drops to 5-24 overall and 3-3 in the CUNYAC.

Overall today, the Bearcats scored 35 runs on 35 hits. They have now scored six or more runs in 16 of the 27 regular season games played this season.

In the first game,
Thomas Daly continued his solid hitting batting 3-for-4, with three runs scored and two RBI. Steve Hession scored four runs and Yancy Taveras totaled five RBI, including a homer in the fourth inning. Jeffrey Mercedes earns the win in relief by pitching 4.1 innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs and three strikeouts.

The second game featured a football type score of 20-13. Once again, Thomas Daly was the leader batting 5-for-6, with four runs scored, three RBI, two doubles and one triple. After 27 games, Daly has already totaled 37 RBI.

Yancy Taveras (3-5, 4 Runs, 3 RBI),
John Yuksekol(3-5, 4 Runs, 2 RBI), Alvin Mata (3 Runs, 3 Stolen Bases) and Justin Torres (3-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 Runs) also had a big game to help the Bearcats rout the Beavers.

The baseball team will return to action on Saturday, April 14, with a CUNYAC home doubleheader against Lehman. First pitch at MCU Park in Brooklyn (Coney Island) is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
