Farmingdale St. Outslug Bearcats for 14-8 Victory

The baseball team lost a 14-8 non-conference contest to the Rams of Farmingdale State on Tuesday afternoon in Farmingdale, New York.

With the result, the Bearcats drop to 18-17 overall, while the Rams from the Skyline Conference improve to 25-9. The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, April 26, with a CUNYAC Championship Tournament first round game against Lehman College. First pitch at MCU Park in Coney Island is scheduled for 1:00 pm.   

The visiting Bearcats trailed 6-2 after five innings, but tied the game in the sixth inning with a three run homer by
Eric Ulino and a passed ball that enabled Steve Hession to score from third base.

Farmingdale State, which in recent years has played in the Division III College World Series, erupted for six runs in their bottom half of the sixth inning en route to the 14-8 home victory.

Overall, Farmingdale State scored 14 runs on 18 total hits, while the Bearcats totaled eight runs on 14 hits.

Eric Ulino had an outstanding game against his former school by batting 3-for-3, with four RBI.
Justin Torres, Thomas Daly and Steve Hession finished with two hits each.

The Bearcats totaled a season-high eight doubles (Daly & Torres two each) in the tough loss to one of the region’s stronger teams.
