Women's Swimming Defeat Rival Hunter (124-79), Stay Undefeated in CUNYAC (4-0)

The women’s swimming team defeated rival Hunter College Hawks, 124-79, in a CUNYAC home meet on Tuesday night in the ARC Aquatic Center.

With the result, the Bearcats improve to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in CUNYAC. The Bearcats can clinch the CUNYAC regular season championship (first place) with a victory at John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Friday night (6:00 pm).

The Bearcats won nine of the 11 events this evening, highlighted by a superb performance from
Julia Sung, who continues to keep the coaching staff busy updating the record books. Sung won and broke school records in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and the lead-off 50 free as part the 200 freestyle relay for her historic evening.

On Monday, Sung was named the CUNYAC Swimmer of the Week for her winning efforts against Staten Island in a home meet on January 3.

Adrianna Martinez, who was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, won the 200 individual medley (2:40.83) and 100 butterfly (1:15.59) events. She teamed up with Jacqueline Smith, Jessica Lin and Sally Lim to finish second in the opening 200 medley relay (2:33.20).

Denisse Duran Llano recorded a victory in the arduous 800 freestyle (11:32.76) and finished second behind Sung in the 100 freestyle (1:07.56).

Rose Lee won the fast 50 freestyle (29.78) and 100 backstroke (1:15.71) events.

Lauren Rouchou recorded an individual victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:29.63) and finished third in the 200 individual medley (2:53.44).

Julianna Fricchione finished in second place in the 800 freestyle (11:40.16) behind teammate Duran Llano, while Sally Lim was second in the 400 freestyle. Amy Sung was second in the 100 breaststroke behind teammate Rouchou.
