Box Score

The baseball team won their second straight game and handed the Bears of St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn their first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Padavan-Prellers Fields in Bellerose, New York.

The visiting Bearcats (3-6) did all their scoring in the first inning with
Angel Tejeda smacking a two RBI single to score Nicholas Pomo-Roman and Keith Ezersky for the 2-0 lead.

The Bears (8-1) scored their only run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Domenick Camerada, but
Joseph Cali pitched an impressive complete game (9IP, 9H, 1ER, 1BB, 5K) to notch the victory against an opponent that received votes this week in the D3baseball.com national rankings.

Overall, the Bearcats totaled two runs on five hits and benefited from four fielding errors by the Bears, including two in the first inning, that helped set up Tejeda for the two RBI single.

The Bearcats received solid fielding in the eighth inning with
Jasdeep Buttar throwing out a runner stealing second base and Cali, Pomo-Roman, Matthew Ballone and Eric Ulino combining to pick off a runner at first base during a rally by the Bears in the eighth inning.

The baseball team will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 24, with a CUNYAC road doubleheader against John Jay College of Criminal Justice. First pitch at the College of Staten Island baseball complex is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
