Big 9th Inning Helps Bearcats Defeat Maritime (7-2)

The baseball team defeated the Privateers of SUNY-Maritime, 7-2, in a non-conference contest played on Tuesday night in the Bronx.

The victory helps the Bearcats even their season record at 8-8.

The visiting Bearcats broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the fourth inning on a
Matthew Ballone two RBI double to score Philip Loprete and Richard Valerio.

The Privateers tied the game in the fifth inning, but the Bearcats went ahead in the seventh on an RBI single by
Jasdeep Buttar to score Keith Ezersky.

They took control for the victory with four runs in the ninth inning that started with another RBI single by Buttar to score
Daniel Arango.

John Yuksekol followed with an RBI single to score Buttar, while Nicholas Pomo-Roman and Yuksekol would later score on a wild pitch to complete the 7-2 road victory.

Four pitchers threw this evening with Connor Henson earning the victory on a very cold evening in the Bronx.

The baseball team will continue their schedule on Thursday with a non-conference home game against St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn. First pitch at Bronx Community College is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
