The women's tennis team defeated the Cardinals of York College, 8-1, on Friday afternoon at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

The Bearcats won all three doubles and five of the six singles for the conference victory.

Hayley Bester, who was named for the second time as the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, posted a 6-0, 6-1 score at first singles and combined with Allie Jackson-Hing for a 8-0 victory at first doubles. Jackson-Hing was also honored this week by being named the CUNYAC Player of the Week for the first time this season.

Dzhessika Bishenkevich (#4), Lizabeth Yagupolskiy (#5) and Helen Lee (#6) all recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories each in the single encounters.

Diana Fedorkova won a hard-fough second singles encounter, 6-4, 7-5.

The Bearcats will continue their conference schedule on Tuesday, September 23, with a 4:00 pm match at Brooklyn College.
