The women's volleyball team lost in four sets (18-25, 26-24, 12-25, 16-25) to Montclair State University on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The visiting Red Hawks posted 50 kills hitting .221, while the Bearcats had 33 kills hitting .060 in the home loss.

Akilah Meulens had a solid match with 15 kills, while four-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Stephanie Cornwell finished with 25 assists, 17 digs and five aces.

Alessandra Chavez also had a terrific match with 10 kills and 14 digs. Marisa Bou was busy again with 16 digs.

Madison Maute led the visiting Red Hawks (17-2) from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) with 12 kills.

The Bearcats will quickly return to action Friday night at the Kean University Invitational in Union, New Jersey. The Bearcats open play against Alvernia University at 6 p.m., followed by Catholic University of America at 8 p.m.
