The women's volleyball team lost in four sets to the Road Runners of Ramapo College on Tuesday night in Mahwah, New Jersey.
The Road Runners took the first two sets (25-18, 25-9), but the Bearcats did not go quietly and won the third, 25-21.
The Bearcats appeared to be on the verge of getting swept in that third set after trailing, 15-4, but came back strong by tallying 21 of the next 27 points to win.
The Road Runners responded by hitting .308 in the fourth set and won 25-13 to clinch the home victory.   Â
Akilah Meulens led the attack with 10 kills, while two-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Stephanie Cornwell was a factor again with 23 assists. Marisa Bou totaled a career-high 20 digs in a solid effort all evening.
Larysa Iwaskiw led the home team with 21 kills.
The Bearcats will hit the road this weekend to Philadelphia to compete in the Neumann Invitational starting on Friday, September 16. Their first match is scheduled for 4 p.m. against Moravian College.
