Bearcats Sweep CSI to Advance to CUNYAC Semifinal on Friday

The Baruch College Bearcats swept the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island in a CUNYAC quarterfinal round contest on Halloween Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats won with scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-17 en route to advancing to the CUNYAC Semifinal on Friday night against top seed Hunter College at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Bearcats posted 43 kills hitting .210. The Dolphins had 19 kills hitting .063.

The Dolphins trailed the entire contest and found themselves down quickly in the first set, 16-4.

"Coming into the season with a very young team, I knew it would be an uphill battle," said Baruch Head Coach Kevin Edwards. "Everyone's goal is always to win a championship, but we also set some small goals along the way. The first was to finish the regular season in playoff position. The next goal, which we did today with a great team effort, is to get to the championship rounds. Playoffs are about team work, enjoying the moment and taking it play by play. Great team effort today and hoping it continues on Friday."

Katherine Chen led the home team with 11 kills and a career-high eight aces. Teresa Maresca was tops for the Dolphins with seven kills.
