The Bearcats visited Farmingdale State on Thursday afternoon for a doubleheader contest.
The Rams from the Skyline Conference were led by pitcher Matt Seelinger, who posted a 4-0 shutout in the opening game. Seelinger had nine strikeouts and allowed three hits over seven innings.
The Bearcats responded with plenty of offense in the second game with Donovan Hunt batting 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Gilberto Mendoza, Jr., finished the game batting 2-for-4 with two runs. Dan Daley batted 3-for-5 with one run. Sean McNamara and Matthew Donofrio each had one RBI in the tough, extra inning, 6-5 loss in nine.
The Bearcats twice owned leads in the game (2-0, 5-3), but the Rams rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings with a 5-5 tie. They walked off with the win in the bottom of the ninth via a RBI single by Dalton McCarthy.
The baseball team will next host a CUNYAC doubleheader against Lehman College on Friday, April 14, at Westchester CC in Valhalla, New York. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
