Baseball Drops 13-7 Contest to St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn)

The baseball team lost a high-scoring 13-7 contest to the Bears of St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on Tuesday afternoon at the American Legion Complex in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn.

The visiting Bearcats started strong and built an early 3-0 advantage after their first two at-bats.

Donovan Hunt started the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single to plate Matthew Donofrio. In the second inning, Jasdeep Buttar smacked an RBI single to score Donofrio again, while on the same play Michael McGroarty also scored on an error for the early 3-0 lead.

The Bears, who avenged a 4-3 loss on March 30 to the Bearcats, took control by tying the game at 3-3 in the second and scored another three runs in the third inning. They added three more again in the fifth to go up, 9-3.

The Bearcats scored a solo run in the sixth on a Donofrio RBI single to plate
Ramon Moreta to cut it to 9-4. They would score their final three runs in the eight inning on a wild pitch, followed by RBI singles by McGroarty and Hunt again.

Overall, the Bears totaled 13 runs on 22 hits, while the Bearcats had seven runs on 16 hits. Each team committed three errors.
