Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Match, Defeat Lehman 5-4 in CUNYAC Quarterfinal

The women's tennis team defeated the Lightning of Lehman College, 5-4, in a home CUNYAC quarterfinal round playoff contest on Sunday afternoon.

Rookie Natalie Ibelhaupt  won the match in fifth singles (6-0, 2-6, 6-1) to help clinch the close 5-4 win at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, New Jersey.

The Bearcats started by winning two of three doubles and followed with three more singles wins to reach the semifinal round for the seventh straight year. 

Lehman finishes their fall schedule with a 4-9 record.

Lauren Kraker (#2, 6-01, 6-1) and Lejla Redzematovic (#3, 6-0, 6-0) each recorded convincing singles wins.

Elizabeth Mak and Regina Avrutis won at third doubles, 8-6.

"Strong results in doubles helped us achieve the win today," said Baruch Head Coach Gregory Wyzykowski. "A total team effort was evident as Natalie reversed a three set loss to her same opponent earlier in the year to beat her today in three sets to help bring home the final point. Hopefully, we can bring strong doubles results on Tuesday." 

Lizaveta Markouskaya was tops for visiting Lehman winning at first singles and first doubles.
