Farmingdale State Bests Bearcats (5-4)

The baseball team fell 5-4 to the Rams of Farmingdale State today in a tightly contested game on Long Island.

The Rams struck first, scoring three runs in the second inning to take the lead.

The Bearcats answered back in the fifth, scoring three runs and tying the game. Outfielder Davic Capellan singled up the middle to drive in Nicholas Valeriano. Two batters later Michael McGroarty hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Kemal Deljanin, with Capellan also scoring on the play.

The Bearcats managed to take a 4-3 lead in the seventh.

CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Angelo Alessandro and Capellan both singled to start the inning. Capellan eventually scored when Conor McCabe was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The Rams from the Skyline Conference responded by scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning, giving them a 5-4 advantage, which would stand as the final score.

Seven different Bearcats recorded a hit in the game.

The team returns to action this Thursday when they travel to Valhalla, New York to take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 4 p.m.
