Bearcats Start Season at Moravian Tournament, Athletic Competition Resumes After 542 Days

The women's volleyball team started their schedule on Friday night competing at the Greyhound Premiere Invitational hosted by Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The Bearcats were the first Baruch sport to resume competition after a stoppage of 542 days. The last time a Bearcat team played was on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, as men's volleyball defeated SUNY-Purchase 3-0. Men's volleyball was scheduled to play the Wentworth Institute of Technology three days later but everything was stopped by Covid-19.

The women's team started tonight against the Wentworth Institute of Technology by winning the first set 25-19, but their opponents from Boston took the next three sets, including winning 25-23 in the third.

The Bearcats lost in three in a competitive match to the hosts Moravian, but fell in the end losing 26-24 in the third set.

The tournament resumes on Saturday as the Bearcats play Alvernia University with first serve scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
