Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Pratt Defeats Bearcats 5-4

The women's tennis team lost a tough match to the Cannoneers from the Pratt Institute, 5-4, on Thursday at the U.S. National Tennis Center.

The Bearcats lost two of the three doubles and three of the six singles for the tight defeat on a chilly evening in Queens.

Regina Kelley and Erica Sheludenko earned the win at second doubles, 8-2.

Ava Deguzman (#1, 6-4, 6-2), Kelley (#3, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6) and Sheludenko (#4, 6-1, 6-2) won the three points in singles against the Cannoneers, who remain undefeated at 8-0.

The Bearcats will finish their regular-season schedule on Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. home match against Stockton University.

Please note the match was originally scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at the U.S. National Tennis Center, but due to the wet forecast on Sunday it has now been moved indoors to Queens College.

The team on Sunday will also honor Regina Kelley on Bearcats' Appreciation Day for playing in her final regular season home match.

The CUNYAC will soon announce the full playoff schedule information. The Bearcats have earned a bye to the CUNYAC semifinals next Tuesday, October 25.
