St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Takes Two from Bearcats

Baruch softball lost a non-conference doubleheader to the Bears from St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on Sunday.

The Bears from the Skyline Conference won the doubleheader with scores of 4-2 and 14-3 at Lenape Playground in Brooklyn.

HIGHLIGHTS 

Game 1

* The visiting Bearcats tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third, but the Bears scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to win 4-2.

* The Bearcats scored their first on an RBI double by Julia Cuttone to plate Jordyn Schwartz.

* They added their second run in the top of the sixth on an RBI ground out by Bridget Campanelli to bring home Jessica Davis.

* Davis finished batting 2-for- 3 with a run scored.

* Cuttone, Davis, Schwartz each had a double in the tough loss.

Game 2

* The host Bears took control jumping out to a 13-0 advantage, but the Bearcats scored the last four runs.

* Emilia Zakoscielny started the Bearcats' scoring with an infield RBI single to score Campanelli. Gia Cerulli scored the second run in that inning via a fielding error.

* The third run came in the fifth inning as Campanelli was a factor again with an RBI double to plate Cuttone.

* Campanelli finished batting 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored.

* Cuttone batted 1-for-2 with a run scored and also had a stolen base.
