Softball Splits Doubleheader Against John Jay

The softball team and John Jay split a CUNYAC doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Frozen Ropes in Chester, New York.

The Bearcats lost a tough opening game 7-6, but took a big lead early in the second game en route to winning 7-2 for the split.

They currently sit in second place in the conference standings.

HIGHLIGHTS

Game 1

* The Bearcats took 4-0 and 5-4 leads, but the Bloodhounds rallied to pull out the narrow win.

* Carly Quint and Jessica Davis each had three hits, which included a double for each. 

* Megan Bell, Julia Cuttone, Emilia Zakoscielny, and Jordyn Schwartz had two hits each.  

Game 2
 
* The Bearcats led from start to finish for the 7-2 win. They set the tone early with three runs in their opening at-bat.

* Quint was dominant on the mound for the win striking out seven with no walks and two earned runs. At the plate she helped her cause batting 3-for-4. Her RBI single to plate Bell stood as the winning run.

* Cuttone batted 3-for-3 scoring three of the seven runs in the win.  

* Zakoscielny had an RBI triple in the first inning.
