Baseball Wins 5th All-Time CUNYAC Championship!

The Baruch baseball team defeated the Beavers of CCNY 14-7 to win the best of three CUNYAC Championship Series on Sunday afternoon at Maimonides Park on Coney Island.

The title is the fifth in team history and the fourth under Head Coach Jose Torres.

Matthew Lawlor pitched his sixth complete game against CUNYAC opposition - all wins - to earn Tournament MVP honors. He won the play-in game on Tuesday and the second game of the championship series today with a career-high 10 strikeouts.

Brian Hwang had the hot bat batting 4-for-6 with two runs, two RBI, and a double in the Bearcats' 14th win in their last 17 contests.

CCNY led 2-1 early but the Bearcats took control the rest of the way, which included a game-busting seven runs on seven hits in the seventh inning.

The season will continue later this week with a game or two added to the schedule. As soon as information is confirmed, it will be announced.

The Bearcats will also await a potential berth to the ECAC Division III Championship Tournament that will start on Wednesday, May 18 at higher seeds. The bracket and teams will be announced on Monday, May 16.
