Baseball Lose Tough High-Scoring Contests to Muskingum & Haverford in Florida

The baseball team continued their schedule in Fort Myers, Florida on Friday night and Saturday morning at Terry Park.

The Bearcats packed lots of scoring but suffered tough losses to strong opponents.

On Friday night, in a contest that ended late, due to Muskingum's prior 4pm game going to extra innings, the Bearcats lost, 19-7.

The contest started well jumping out to a 6-2 lead after two innings, but the Muskies from Ohio took control with an 11-run fifth inning to blow the game wide open for the victory.

Brian Hwang, Kenneth Taveras, and Joseph Cocozza had two hits each. Cocozza and Roy Longarzo each scored two runs.

After ending late on Friday, the Bearcats quickly resumed action on Saturday morning at 9am against Haverford from Philadelphia.

Things started badly as the opponent jumped out to an 9-0 lead in the fifth inning, but the Bearcats went on a ferocious rally scoring eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the score to 9-8.

The Fords added runs three runs in the sixth inning to lead 12-8 and the scored remained unchanged the rest of the game on a very sunny and warm day in Florida.

Longarzo and Andrew Horyczun had two hits, while Taveras finished with two RBI.

The Bearcats will play their final game in Fort Myers on Monday morning against Skidmore College from uptate Saratoga Springs, New York.
