Baseball Win Streak Reaches Six, Bearcats Sweep Lehman

The baseball team is now on a 6-game winning streak after sweeping a CUNYAC doubleheader against the Lightning of Lehman College on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.

The visiting Bearcats exploded for 26 total runs on 20 hits to improve to 5-1 in the CUNYAC standings.

In the first game, six different Bearcats scored at least two runs as they took control with a commanding 14-3 lead after four innings.

Joseph Bello smacked a grand slam in the first inning, his first intercollegiate homer, and Nathaniel Demchak (7 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) pitched a complete game to go 3-0 this season and a perfect 7-0 lifetime against CUNYAC opposition.

Robert Wakely also had a big game batting 3-for-3 with a double, two runs, and one RBI. Kenneth Taveras stole two bases in the 16-3 victory.

In the second game, the Bearcats took control early again leading 5-0 in the fourth inning and scoring six total runs in the sixth en route to the 10-2 victory.

Andrew Horyczun (four walks, three RBI) was busy on the bases, while Jacob Auerbach smacked a 3-run homer in the big sixth scoring inning.

Rookie Jeremy Ramirez earned the victory going the distance (7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 B, 7 K) for this second win on the mound.

Pedro Tejada, Jr. had two doubles and Joseph Cocozza notched two steals.
