Bearcats Split Doubleheader Versus Rutgers-Newark

The Bearcats split a non-conference doubleheader against Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday evening in Newark, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats won the first game with a score of 6-4 but lost the second in five innings 10-2. 

Baruch set the tone in the first game, with solid starting pitching, and totaled 15 hits to improve to 14-12 on their season record.

In the first game, Carly Quint pitched a complete game allowing only 4 runs and holding 2 strikeouts for the 6-4 victory.

The Bearcats scored first during their opening at-bat with Danielle Petrunti knocking in Megan Bell for an RBI.

Mia Faddah had the hot bat leading the Bearcats 3-for-4 at the plate. Julia Cuttone, Jordyn Schwartz, Grace Osuch and Milagros Arias each followed going 2 for 4, with Arias holding 3 RBIs. 

In the second game, they took a tough loss, but battled hard with 11 hits. 

Cuttone, Petrunti, Faddah, and Arias each led with 2 hits. Bell held the only RBI of the game going 1 for 3 and Faddah scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh to bring another run in. 

The Bearcats battled but wasn't able to string enough hits together leaving the game to end in the fifth via the eight-run rule. 

The softball team will resume CUNYAC action on Saturday with a 12 pm home doubleheader against John Jay at Flowers Park, New Rochelle in a showdown for a potential first place spot.
