Swim Teams Open Season Against Ramapo College

The men's and women's swim teams both went away to start their regular season schedules at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey on Saturday, October 18.

The Bearcats fought hard, but lost the battle against the nicknamed Road Runners.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

- Kira Chen won the 100 Yard Backstroke with the quickest time of 1:05.63. She also won the 200 yard backstroke (2:27.02) and came in second place in the 200 yard individual medley (2:34.61).

- Ashley Leal won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a 27.25 time.

- Allyse Alexander won the 200 Yard Breaststroke with the fastest time of 2:48.39. She also narrowly finished in second place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:02.24, just .26 seconds behind first place.

- The Bearcats won the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with Allyse, Leal, Kaetlyn Chavez, and Sophia Lengyel in a time of 1:51.46. Following them for second place in this event was Kristen Zhou, Cindy Castaneda, Helen Buhler, and Melissa Yiu, finishing with 2:08.22.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

- Tenzin Gurung finished first (58.35), Samuel Liao second (59.88), and Ethan Abramov third (59.93) in the 100 Yard Backstroke.

- Lucas Vasquez finished in first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle with the fastest time of 22.48. Lucas also came in second place during the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 49.68.

- Gurung and Adrian Lengyel came in first and second respectively in the 200 Yard Backstroke with times of 2:10.98 and 2:12.47.

- Ramiel Fayngersh came in first in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with the quickest time of 2:24.95.

- Daniel Vasilkoff tied with Anthony Chiu from Ramapo with a time of 2:10.70 in the 200 Yard Individual Medley.

- The Bearcats came in first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with the fastest time of 1:31.26, just .04 seconds ahead of Ramapo. The winning squad consisted of Alexander Boyarsky, Lucas Vasquez, Ramiel Fayngersh, and Daniel Vasilkoff.

The Bearcats' next swim meet will be on Friday, October 24, at 6:00 p.m. against William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.
