The women's tennis team lost a close non-conference Spring match (4-3) to the Pratt Institute on Saturday afternoon at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.
The visiting Bearcats started strong, winning two of the three doubles to earn the first team point in the non-conference format, but Pratt rallied to win four of the six singles to record the overall 4-3 team victory.
The Bearcats received doubles victories from #1 Ava Deguzman / Natalie Bergmann 7-6 (7-5) and #2 Aishika Yadav / Maria Calvo 6-4.
The team's two points in singles were earned by Bergmann (6-1, 6-2) at number two and Yadav (6-0, 6-1) at number three.
The team will continue their Spring schedule on Saturday, April 26, with a non-conference match against rival Hunter College.
They are currently preparing for a potential bid to play in the ECAC Division III Championship next month.
FORMAT: The first team to collect four or more points wins the dual match. Doubles play will start with the team winning two of the three matches, taking a single point. All six singles matches will each be a single point, with a maximum score of seven.
