Softball Fall in Non-Conference DH to St. Joseph's of Long Island

The softball team lost to the Golden Eagles of St Joseph's University of Patchogue in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday on Long Island. 

The visiting Bearcats lost a tough opener 4-3. The game was tied at 2-2 heading into the sixth inning when the Golden Eagles scored two runs to jump ahead 4-2. 

The Bearcats rallied in the 7th inning with Mia Faddah smacking an RBI single to score Ava Lavery to get as close as 4-3, but the pitching from St Joseph's kept any more runs from crossing the plate for the 4-3 result.

In the second game, the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, but the Bearcats never lost their composure and battled right back by scoring three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead.

Leilani Jimenez's fielder's choice RBI, along with a two-run double by Milagros Arias, accounted for the three runs in the fourth inning. Lavery scored on Mina Barriga's RBI double, and Jules Wychunas scored on a fielding error for the two runs to jump ahead 5-4. 

The Golden Eagles battled back by scoring the next six runs to lead 10-5 after six innings.

The Bearcats' bats did not go away quietly in the seventh inning as they rallied again with Faddah recording another big hit, this time a two-run double to bring home Barriga and Lavery.

The Golden Eagles kept the Bearcats off the scoreboard the rest of the inning to record the 10-7 result.
