Softball Advances to Day 2 of CUNYAC Championship, Mia Faddah Records 100th Career Hit

The softball team advanced to the second day of the CUNYAC Championship Tournament, taking place at Brooklyn College. 

The Bearcats lost their opening game to John Jay College 3-1 but came back to defeat Hunter College 4-3 in the loser's bracket to stay alive. 

Due to the weather forecast, the remaining contests scheduled for Friday have been postponed and rescheduled to Saturday, with the Bearcats playing Brooklyn College in an elimination game at 11:00 a.m. 

In addition to the Bearcats advancing, today was also a special day for junior Mia Faddah, who recorded her 100th career hit during the second game against rival Hunter.

In the first game against John Jay, the Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a sacrifice fly RBI by Mina Barriga to bring home Jules Wychunas. John Jay scored two runs in their bottom third and added an insurance in the sixth inning for the 3-1 victory.

The Bearcats returned to the field to play Hunter College and started strong with a 4-0 advantage in the third inning. Ava Lavery smacked a two-run double, and Leilani Jimenez had a two-run single for the 4-0 lead.

The Hawks slowly battled back, getting as close as 4-3 and loading the bases in their last at-bat with one out, but Leilani Jimenez pitched her away of the jam with a fly out and strikeout to seal the victory.
