The women's tennis team opened its season on Labor Day with a 6-1 loss to Yeshiva University at the Brookdale Outdoor Courts in Montclair, New Jersey.
The Bearcats' lone singles victory came at the top of the lineup, where standout Aishika Yadav was dominant in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles.
Yadav also teamed with Maria Calvo Prado to cruise to a 6-0 win at first doubles.
Despite that early momentum, Baruch was unable to secure the team doubles point, as Yeshiva rebounded with victories at second and third doubles to take a 1-0 overall lead heading into singles play.
The Maccabees then carried the advantage through the lineup, winning five of the six singles matches to clinch the team victory.
The Bearcats will look to bounce back in their next match on Saturday, September 6, when they travel to play against Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York.
FORMAT: The first team to collect four or more points wins the dual match. Doubles play will start with the team winning two of the three matches taking a single point. All six singles matches will each be a single point, with a maximum score of seven. Â
