Carrie Thomas has been a dedicated member of the Baruch College Athletics Department since February 2014, serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Academics, Compliance and Eligibility, Senior Women’s Administrator and SAAC Advisor. In this role, she oversees NCAA, conference, and institutional compliance while supporting the academic, personal, and athletic success of Baruch's student-athletes.
Throughout her career in intercollegiate athletics, Thomas has built a reputation for her commitment to student-athlete welfare, educational achievement, and operational excellence. Prior to joining Baruch College, she gained valuable experience coaching in athletic departments at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and Mesabi Range College, where she developed a strong foundation in student-athlete support, compliance, and athletic administration. Her broad experience across multiple institutions has helped shape the student-centered approach she brings to Baruch Athletics every day.
Since arriving at Baruch, Thomas has played an integral role in strengthening compliance operations, enhancing student-athlete education initiatives, supporting NCAA eligibility and recruiting processes, coordinating awards and recognition programs, and fostering a culture that prioritizes academic success alongside athletic achievement. She works closely with coaches, administrators, and campus partners to ensure that Baruch student-athletes have the resources needed to thrive in the classroom, in competition, and in their future careers.
Over the course of her career, Thomas has been recognized for her leadership, dedication to student-athlete development, and commitment to collegiate athletics. Her professional accomplishments include helping to implement effective compliance systems, supporting championship-caliber programs, and contributing to the overall growth and success of the student-athlete experience at each institution she has served. (5x Coach of the Year Award and Dr. Ronald Aaron Very Inspirational Professional Distinguished Leader)
A native of Eveleth, Minnesota, Thomas proudly comes from a community known as the home of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and the World's Largest Hockey Stick. Growing up in a region where athletics are deeply woven into the fabric of the community helped shape her lifelong passion for sports and education.
Thomas currently resides in Cranford, New Jersey, with her wife, Kelly, and their two children. Her daughter, Gianna, enjoys softball and dance, while her son, Bobby, is active in football, basketball, and baseball. Watching her children pursue their own athletic passions continues to reinforce the important life lessons that sports can provide.
A Message from Carrie
"Sports have had a tremendous impact on my life. They taught me discipline, resilience, accountability, teamwork, and the value of pursuing goals that once seemed out of reach. Every day, I want our student-athletes to appreciate the incredible educational opportunities available to them and the privilege of continuing their athletic careers at the NCAA Division III level. Athletics can open doors, create lifelong friendships, and shape future leaders, and I hope every student-athlete leaves Baruch with a deeper appreciation for both their education and their experience as a collegiate athlete."
