Felix Puno III is in his first season as assistant coach of the women's volleyball team.
He will assist Head Coach Anna Carbone with all aspects of the volleyball program.Â
Puno is a versatile and highly analytical individual with three years of teaching experience and eight years of athletic coaching at various levels.Â
He started his coaching career in 2019 while teaching at the Brearley School on the Upper East Side. He started in middle school and worked his way up to junior volleyball varsity. He also coached basketball (middle school) and track (varsity).
He was also a running coach/fitness instructor for the Mile High Club in New York City from 2016 to 2021. Here he strategically led groups through valuable fitness sessions and helped athletes fine-tune their skills and mechanics.Â
His coaching career also included in 2023 working at the Heschel School where he acted as the JV Head Coach for the school's girl's volleyball and basketball teams.
Starting in 2024, Puno earned the Head Coaching job for the Under 14 club volleyball team at Asphalt Green. He focused on developing his students' skills, strength and game strategy, while mentoring his athletes in life skills such as leadership, goal setting, accountability and positive team culture.
Later in 2024, he earned the title as the Athletics Coach at The Avenues School where he served as the Head Coach for the Boys and Girls varsity (K-12) volleyball programs and taught Physical Education.
Puno also has a successful education resume. He earned a Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design BFA from Fashion Institute of Technology ('16), followed by a Fundementals of Global Sport Management Certification from NYU in 2022.Â
He has also earned impressive and valuable honors and certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer (NASM CPT) and the Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES).
He was a three sport athlete (volleyball, track, basketball) at Aviation High School in Queens. He won a state title during his junior year with volleyball, and won a state title in track (sprinter) during his junior and senior years. Â
