Oswaldo “Ozzie” Roman enters his 12th season as an assistant coach.

During his tenure, Ozzie has helped guide the Bearcats to three CUNYAC championships (2019, 2022, 2025), highlighted by the program’s historic 2019 NCAA playoff victory over North Atlantic Conference champion Husson, which secured the team’s first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Ozzie is deeply connected to the program—his son, Nicholas Pomo-Roman, played for the Bearcats from 2013–14 and earned CUNYAC MVP honors in 2013.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in amateur baseball throughout the tri-state area, including five seasons as manager of the Bellmore Bombers in Long Island’s Boys of Summer League. He also spent three years managing the Bombers in the College Wood Bat League, also based on Long Island.

Ozzie is retired from the New York City Department of Education, where he served as a principal for over two decades.
