Montclair State Sweep Bearcats

The Bearcats lost a non-conference doubleheader to Montclair State on Thursday afternoon in Montclair, New Jersey.

Montclair State won by the scores of 12-0 and 13-0 to raise their record to 25-6, while the Bearcats drop to 11-17.

In the opener, senior righthander Athanasia Totaro (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) recorded eight strikeouts and retired all 15 batters she faced for the fifth perfect game in school history. The win also raise her season record to 12-2.

Freshman shortstop Jennifer Jimenez (Linden, N.J./Linden) set a school record with her 13th home run of the season, as part of a six-run third inning that broke open the game.

In the nightcap, Montclair State scored seven times in the bottom of the first inning to go on to a 13-0 shutout.

Carolyn McCrea (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson) picked up the victory to raise her record to 12-4. She struck out seven and gave up two hits during three innings of action. Dana Warnock (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) pitched the last two innings to close out the sweep.
 
Sophomore Sonia Sendoya (Queens, N.Y./Murry Bergtraum) doubled, while senior Seryi Betancourt (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) and freshman Michelle Miecuna (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) each singled, as part of team 's three total hits in the second game.
 
Baruch will continue their busy spring break week of action with another doubleheader on Friday afternoon against the College of Staten Island. First pitch at the CSI softball complex is scheduled for Noon.
