Freshman guard Monique Salmon (Bronx, N.Y./Truman) recorded a triple-double (13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists) to help lead the women’s basketball team to an 87-64 home victory against Medgar Evers College on Friday night in the ARC Arena.
The Bearcats broke up a tight 13-9 contest early with 17 consecutive points to take a 30-9 lead with 9:35 left in the first half. That run stood up the rest of the way as every player saw playing action this evening.
Kalea Davis (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman) led all Baruch (14-5, 8-0 CUNYAC) scorers with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Naesha Tyler-Moore (Chicago, III./Rich Central) contributed 15 points, five steals and four assists.
Dominique McClendon (Chicago, III./Seaside) also most had a double-double with nine points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Idelissa Lluveres (Bronx, N.Y./Aquinas) grabbed seven rebounds in 15 minutes of action.
Shakimba Pierre (Brooklyn, N.Y./Paul Robeson), one of two players for the Cougars with a double-double, finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds and three assists. Shauntelle Nelson (Queens, N.Y./August Martin) notched 17 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
The women’s basketball team will continue their conference schedule next Wednesday, January 23rd, with a 5:30 pm home game against the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
