Ola Qeraj dished out a career-high 26 assists to lead the Bearcats to a four-set victory (25-22, 24-26, 25-22, 25-18) against Montclair State University in a non-conference match on Friday night in the ARC Arena.
Staren Soanes notched 11 kills, while Mayra Estepan had 10 kills and 10 digs to help lead the Bearcats to their 15th victory of the season.
Berbelin Jape also had a solid match this evening with seven kills, five service aces and 12 digs. Lizmarie Vasquez provided outstanding defense at key points of the match with a team-high 18 digs.
In the opening match of the afternoon against Central College from Iowa, the Bearcats were swept by the scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-14.
Qeraj had 12 assists, while Estepan led the team with five kills.
In the middle match of the day, Central College also swept Montclair State in three sets.
The women’s volleyball team will now enjoy a break in their schedule. They will return to action on Tuesday, October 28, with a 7:00 pm conference road match at Medgar Evers College.
