The Baruch Bearcats and SUNY-Maritime Privateers played to a 1-1 tie on Monday night in a non-conference match up in Throggs Neck, New York.
Both goals were scored in the opening six minutes of action in a run-and-gun match that featured 42 total shots (B: 24; M: 18) and 22 saves (B: 6; M-16).
Maritime (3-2-1) scored first at just 4:03 into the match with Efosa Ogbeifun (Benin, Nigeria/Chrisland College) finding the back of the net unassisted to give the Privateers the quick 1-0 lead.
The visiting Bearcats (1-2-3), who have now recorded three ties in their first six matches, quickly responded 51 seconds later with freshman Dominick Cinquemani (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) scoring his third goal of the season unassisted.
The Bearcats dominated all evening in the shot category and were called for 11 off-sides compared to only five by Maritime.
Junior goalkeeper Nelson DiBastiano (Rego Park, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) had six saves for Baruch.
In other team news, Cinquemani was honored for a solid week (Sept. 15-21) by being named for the first time as the CUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week.
Cinquemani scored one goal in each of the Bearcats' two contests last week, as his team went 1-1 in CUNYAC competition.
He netted one goal a goal against Hunter (Sept. 17), and buried the game-winning marker three days later against City Tech (Sept. 20).
