Men's Soccer Defeats York in Battle for CUNYAC First Place

The men's soccer team recorded an important 1-0 road victory against York College on a windy Wednesday afternoon in Jamaica, New York.


Freshman Brian Wright scored the only goal of the match unassisted at minute 4:20 of the first half.

The Bearcats out-shot the home team Cardinals, 10-3, with Freddy Carrasco-Dance, Alex Ruiz and Boris Lipsman finishing with two shots each.

Goalkeeper Nelson DiBastiano earned his second shutout of the season.

With the victory, the Bearcats improve to 4-4-3 overall and jump into first place in the CUNYAC standings
with 14 points (4-0-2 record).

York College falls to 4-7 overall and drop to second place with 12 points
(4-2 record) in the CUNYAC.

The men's soccer team will return to action on Saturday, October 10, with a home match against the College of Staten Island. Kick off at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York is scheduled for Noon.

The team will also play on Sunday, October 11, at 11:00 am, at the Met Oval with a non-conference home morning match against visiting St. John's University from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
