Men's Basketball Knock Off Farmingdale, 71-59

Tammer Farid scored 23 points to lead the men’s basketball team to a 71-59 road victory at Farmingdale State University on Tuesday night in Farmingdale, New York.

Farid exploded for 19 points in the first half, while Sean Loftus contributed eight points and six rebounds to help Baruch to a 39-31 halftime advantage.

During the second half, the lead would grow to as high as 16 points (54-38) with 11:49 left in the game. Farmingdale tried to cut the deficit with several runs, but the Baruch defense limited the Rams to only 28 percent shooting in the second half.  

Overall, outside of a 4-4 tie in the fourth minute of play, the Bearcats led the entire game to raise their record on the young season to 3-1.

Farmingdale State, which reached the NCAA Elite 8 Round last season, remains winless at 0-2.

Chris Beauchamp had another solid game with 15 points and six assists, Lionel Hilaire scored 12 points, and Loftus finished with 10 points and nine rebounds to round the top scorers this evening on Long Island.

Nikita Davis led the Rams from Farmingdale State with 19 points and six rebounds.

The men’s basketball team will resume action on Tuesday, December 1, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home game against the Cougars of Medgar Evers College.
