BOX SCORE

George Kunkel scored 23 points and Chris Beauchamp had 15 points to lead the men’s basketball team to a 69-63 road victory against Yeshiva University on Saturday night.

The victory raises the team’s record to 6-1, while the Maccabees of Yeshiva drop to 4-6 on the regular season.

The Bearcats started the evening strong by jumping out to a 20-9 lead, but the home team rallied back to tie the game (36-36) going into halftime.

During the second half, the Maccabees continued their momentum and took a brief lead of 43-42 at the 16:42 mark.

The Bearcats would take back the lead (44-43) on their very next possession with a Beauchamp jumper, and would keep that advantage the rest of the game.

Yeshiva did manage to cut the Baruch lead to two points (65-63) with 1:19 left, but two free throws by Lionel Hilaire and one each by Beauchamp  and Arki Wisnu in the final minute helped to preserve the 69-63 victory.

Lionel Hilaire finished with 12 points to join Kunkel and Beauchamp with double-figure scoring.

Overall, the visiting Bearcats shot 47 percent (22-47), and committed only 11 turnovers to record the victory against a Skyline Conference team.

The men’s basketball team will now go on final exam/holiday break, and will resume action on Wednesday, December 30, with a 7:00 pm home contest against Manhattanville.
