The men’s tennis team (5-1, 2-0 CUNYAC) won a tough 5-4 match against the College of Staten Island (3-5, 1-2 CUNYAC) in a conference match up on Tuesday afternoon in Staten Island, New York.

The visiting Bearcats won two of three doubles and three of six singles to record the CUNYAC victory on the home court of CSI.

Tadas Valiukenas had a solid afternoon with victory in #3 singles (7-6 (7-5), 6-2), and teamed up with Aliaksei Misitau to win at #3 doubles, 8-2. 

Andrew Smith won at #5 singles (6-4, 6-4), while Mikheil Sumbatashvili needed a three-set comeback to win at #6 singles (2-6, 6-3, 6-3).

The men’s tennis team will continue their conference schedule on Friday with a road match at City College of New York. First serve on the tennis courts of Roosevelt Island are scheduled for 3:30 pm.
