The women's volleyball team competed on Columbus Day, Monday, October 11, at the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by Brooklyn College.

The Multi-Match is an event created by the 10 teams in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The teams all come together to play two conference matches in one day at one location.

As a result, by playing two conference matches in one day, it opens up a free date to allow the teams to play a non-conference match to strengthen their overall schedule.
(The NCAA allows teams to schedule only 22 regular season days of women's volleyball competition)

The Bearcats began the day at Brooklyn's one-year old athletic facility by sweeping the Lightning of Lehman College in three sets by the scores of 25-10, 25-17, 25-20.

Lauren Hayden led the attack with 10 kills (.304), while Christina Pierre (.500) and Carissa Oliveira (.333) finished with seven kills each. Melinda Santiago dished out 24 assists, while Posey Wilson collected nine digs.

In the second match against John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the Bearcats recorded another sweep with scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-21.

Christina Pierre (eight kills), Maria Turner (five kills), Lauren Hayden (four kills), Martina Micko (four aces) and Melinda Santiago (23 assists) led the Bearcats to win #15 on the regular season schedule.

The women's volleyball team will quickly return to action Tuesday, October 12, with a 7:00 pm non-conference home match against St. Joseph's College of Patchogue.
