The women’s volleyball team swept the Blue Jays from NYU-Poly in a non-conference home match played on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (18-9) recorded their seventh consecutive victory by posting scores of 26-24, 25-17, 25-23 in a match that was tightly contested between CUNYAC and Skyline conference teams.

Carissa Oliveira (14 kills, three blocks), Christina Pierre (12 kills, .611 hitting pct.) and Lauren Hayden (11 kills) all recorded double-digit kills, while Melinda Santiago helped lead the offensive attack with 34 assists and totaled seven digs.

The Bearcats also received solid contributions from Posey Wilson (12 digs), Rebecca Peralta (three kills, four aces) and Melissa Pena (five digs).

Victoria Kalvert led the visiting Blue Jays (13-17) with 11 kills and seven digs.

The women’s volleyball team will return to action on Saturday by competing at a tri-match hosted by Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey.

The Bearcats will play the hosts Montclair State at 11:00 am, followed by a tough regional match at 1:00 pm against FDU-Florham (24-6).
