The Bearcats lost a doubleheader to the Panthers of SUNY-Old Westbury on Sunday afternoon in Old Westbury, New York.

The visiting Bearcats (3-7 record) started the first game by scoring the first run in the first inning of play. Ashley Brandow hit an RBI single to score Elizabeth Santos from third base for the early 1-0 lead.

The Panthers of Old Westbury (2-4 record) responded by scoring the next seven runs on six total hits to clinch the 7-1 victory in a game between CUNYAC and Skyline Conference teams.

In the second game, Old Westbury was on the scoreboard first by scoring two runs in their bottom half of the fourth inning for a 2-0 advantage.

The Bearcats rallied in their final at-bat of the seventh inning with a run scored, but fell short in the 2-1 loss. Nicole Flint hit an RBI double to score Andrea Feeney for the only run of the second game.

Overall, the Bearcats were limited to two runs and seven total hits in 14 innings of action, while the home team Panthers totaled nine runs with 10 total hits.

The softball team will return to action on Tuesday, March 23, with a 4:00 pm CUNYAC doubleheader in the Bronx against Lehman College (2-3 record).
