Bearcats Drop Two to Montclair State

The softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to the Red Hawks of Montclair State University on Thursday afternoon in Montclair, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats (15-19) began the first game by scoring a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Michele Runko to score Dania Ghrawi. They eventually built a 5-2 advantage in the seventh inning on RBI singles by Andrea Tepfer and Melanie Pellegrino.

However, the Red Hawks (17-13) rallied in their final at-bat of the seventh inning with four runs on two hits to stun the Bearcats by the final score of 6-5. 

In the second game, the Red Hawks continued their momentum and jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning of play. They eventually held on for the 8-0 shutout by limiting the Bearcats to only four total hits to clinch the doubleheader sweep in five innings.

The softball team will return to action on Saturday, April 24, with a CUNYAC road doubleheader at the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College. Please note that first pitch is now scheduled for 10:00 am at Monsignor Crawford Field in Brooklyn.
