Women's Volleyball Sweeps John Jay & Lehman in Columbus Day CUNYAC Multi-match

The women’s volleyball team swept John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Lehman College in their two matches on Columbus Day, Monday, October 10, in the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by the College of Staten Island.

Against John Jay, the Bearcats won with a 25-7, 25-5, 25-17 score.
Jessica Wu led the effort with 11 kills (.529) and digs each, while Rebecca Peralta and Jacqueline Dugas finished with eight kills each. Melinda Santiago dished out 32 assists and Kate Rembas had a solid match defensively with seven digs.

The Bearcats recorded a .439 hitting percentage against John Jay, including a solid .750 clip in the second set.
Michelle Stommes contributed to the high percentage with six kills by hitting .417, while Lauren Hayden had four kills by hitting .429.

In the second match against Lehman, the Bearcats won with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-16 score to improve their record to 5-1 in CUNYAC.

Peralta led the attack with 14 kills (.458) and Wu finished with seven kills. For the second straight match, Santiago recorded 32 assists.
Posey Wilson notched 14 digs in the victory.

The women’s volleyball will quickly return to action on Tuesday, October 11, with a 7:00 pm non-conference match at NYU-Poly in Brooklyn.
