The women’s volleyball team recorded a 2-2 record at the Skidmore Invitational hosted by Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York on Friday night and Saturday morning.

The Bearcats opened play against Union College and won in four sets with a 25-20, 12-25, 25-20, 26-24 score.
Melinda Santiago led the attack with 38 assists, while Lauren Hayden notched 10 kills with a .318 hitting percentage.

Sara Stephani contributed seven kills with a solid .428 hitting percentage. Posey Wilson led the defense with 23 digs.

In the second match on Friday, the Bearcats battled New Paltz State in a very competitive encounter, but fell with scores of 25-20, 26-24, 24-26, 27-25.
Jessica Wu led the team with 15 kills with a .366 hitting percentage, while Hayden was next best with 14 kills (.340). Wilson totaled 18 digs and Santiago finished with 43 assists.

The match against New Paltz State ended close to 11 o’clock at night and following a short night sleep, the Bearcats were back on the court to take on the hosts Skidmore.

Skidmore swept with scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-15. Hayden and Stephani (.400) finished with seven kills each, while Santiago dished out 23 assists. Wu totaled four service aces.

In the final match against Plattsburgh State, the Bearcats recorded a sweep with a 25-22, 25-22, 27-25 victory. Wu led the team with 12 kills and Hayden added 11 by hitting .454.

Wilson, who is slowly climbing towards 2,000 career total digs, had another big match defensively with 20 digs. Stephani recorded three blocks and Santiago finished off a busy All-Tournament weekend with 33 assists.

The women’s volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, November 1, with a 7:00 pm CUNYAC quarterfinal home playoff match against York College. For a complete championship schedule,
