UPDATED BOX SCORE

The Bearcats lost an 11-1 CUNYAC softball contest to the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island on Saturday afternoon in Staten Island, New York.

The two teams were scheduled to play a second game, but due to the rain and windy conditions in the middle of the afternoon, it was postponed. No rescheduled date is available at this time.

Prior to the completed game, the team honored their five seniors (
Cristina Arce, Michele Runko, Andrea Tepfer, Ashley Brandow, Idelissa Lluveres) in front of family and friends in a ceremony at home plate.

The Dolphins took control of the contest early by scoring seven runs in the first three innings as the Bearcats were unable to recover to suffer the disappointing loss.

The Dolphins (no errors) scored 11 runs on 14 hits and left seven runners on base, while the Bearcats (three errors) scored one run on three hits and left two runners on base.

The team scored their only run in their first at-bat on an RBI single by Lluveres to score
Melanie Pellegrino from second base.

The softball team will return to action on Monday, April 18, with a rescheduled CUNYAC road doubleheader at 12:00 pm at Randall’s Island (Field #15) against John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play on April 5, but the doubleheader was postponed by wet field conditions.
